Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy. It is a weekly injectable GLP-1 medication. GLP-1 medications have been approved for type 2 diabetes because they lower blood and raise insulin levels. In addition to their effect on blood sugar and insulin levels, these injections are excellent at promoting weight.

How It Works

GLP-1 medications mimic a hormone called GLP-1 that the body releases after a meal, signaling fullness and lowering appetite. They also slow gastric emptying, so food moves slower through the stomach.
